ACCC grants AusPayNet and AP+ authorisation to collaborate about the future of account-to-account payment infrastructure

8 August 2025

Australian Payments Network (AusPayNet), the self-regulatory body for the payments industry, and Australian Payments Plus (AP+), the domestic payments provider, have welcomed the ACCC’s decision to grant authorisation with conditions to develop a common industry vision regarding the future of account-to-account payments infrastructure in Australia.

The authorisation is valid for 18 months until 31 January 2027, and follows the interim authorisation issued in May 2025.

The authorisation applies to AusPayNet, AP+, members of BECS, members of the New Payments Platform (NPP), and other third parties. It enables these organisations to meet, discuss and share information for the purpose of developing a common industry vision for the future of account-to-account payments infrastructure in Australia, including the future of the Bulk Electronic Clearing System (BECS).
