Over 700 leaders from across banking, fintech, government and technology will gather today at ICC Sydney for the return of Beyond Tomorrow, the flagship summit from domestic payments infrastructure provider Australian Payments Plus (AP+).
Under this year’s theme, “Powering Australia’s Progress”, the event will bring together more than 30 speakers and panellists to share insights into how payments innovation, digital identity and emerging technologies are reshaping the way value moves through the economy.
“There’s an enormous amount of change happening in payments right now, creating both new opportunities and the potential for new risks. The industry is working together to navigate these changes,” said AP+ CEO Lynn Kraus.
“Powering Australia’s Progress is about making sure that as the industry moves forward, we strike the right balance - we can’t prioritise speed over safety, or resilience over innovation. We need to work to ensure the payments systems remains secure, trusted and accessible for everyone in Australia.”
Discussions throughout the day will explore the key challenges and opportunities facing the industry, including:
- The role of payments infrastructure and digital technology in supporting Australia’s productivity and economic growth
- The role of real-time payments on the NPP in helping businesses improve customer experiences, optimise cash flow and unlock new efficiencies
- The future of money, including digital assets, tokenisation and emerging payment models
- How digital trust and identity can help reduce fraud while enabling more seamless digital experiences
The event will be MC’ed by Edwina Bartholomew and include guest speakers from Commonwealth Treasury, the ATO, PEXA, CommBank, Zepto, ANZ, NAB, Google, OpenAI, Xero, SAP, and more.
A keynote address from Dr Brad Jones, Assistant Governor (Financial System) at the Reserve Bank of Australia, will explore the future of money against the backdrop of Project Acacia.
