Australian organisations can now add secure digital identity verification to their online forms and customer journeys more easily, following a new integration between Snapforms and ConnectID.
Snapforms helps organisations turn processes that traditionally relied on paper forms, PDFs and manual handling into digital experiences – from customer onboarding and applications to registrations and service requests.
With ConnectID now built into the Snapforms platform, those experiences can also include identity verification. Organisations can add ConnectID as a verification field within their Snapforms workflows, selecting the identity information they need customers to verify.
For customers, that can mean a much simpler experience. Instead of manually entering identity details or uploading copies of documents such as a driver licence or passport, they can verify selected information using their bank. ConnectID is available to customers of CommBank, NAB, ANZ Plus and Westpac.
Customers can see what information has been requested and provide consent before anything is shared. For organisations, reducing the need to collect and store copies of identity documents can also help minimise the amount of sensitive customer information they hold.
Head of ConnectID, Rick Iversen, said making digital identity available through platforms businesses already use was an important step towards broader adoption.
“Digital identity has enormous potential to make everyday interactions simple and safe, but that potential is only realised when it becomes a practical part of how organisations serve their customers. Working with platforms like Snapforms helps bring trusted digital identity into more of the everyday moments where Australians need to prove who they are.”
“Identity verification is an important part of many of the forms and workflows organisations are already building in Snapforms,” said Tim Wilson, Director of Snapforms.
“By integrating ConnectID directly into Snapforms, organisations can add trusted digital identity verification to those existing customer journeys without creating a separate process. It gives them another way to build simpler digital experiences for customers while reducing the need to collect and store sensitive identity documents.”
Energy On puts digital identity into practice
The integration is already being used in a real customer journey.
Australian embedded network and utility provider Energy On manages utilities for multi-tenant properties, and uses Snapforms to support the process of establishing new customer accounts.
Previously, customers signing up through its online forms could be required to manually enter identification details and upload a copy of a driver licence or passport.
Energy On has now incorporated ConnectID into that Snapforms-powered sign-up journey, giving customers the option to verify their identity digitally instead.
"We had been talking to ConnectID about how identity verification could work for Energy On, and the natural fit was to integrate it with Snapforms, which we were already using for customer sign-ups. Now, when a resident signs up for a utility at one of our sites, they can confirm their identity through a trusted organisation such as their bank and agree to share just their name and date of birth,” said James Pearce, General Manager at Energy On.
“With ConnectID, we get a pass or fail result in real time, removing the need for us to collect and store copies of identity documents. Residents get set up faster, and we hold less sensitive personal information, which is better for our customers and for us."
