PayID for consumers
Fast payments with confidence
A PayID® is an easy-to-remember piece of information, such as a mobile number, email address, ABN, or Organisation Identifier, that’s linked to a bank account. It makes sending and receiving money through online banking fast and easy.
Some businesses may provide you with a unique email PayID to use when making a payment. This works the same way as paying to any other PayID.
The best part about paying to a PayID is that you’ll be shown the name linked to the PayID before you hit send, giving you greater confidence in your payments.
Fast payments, 24/7
Payments made to a PayID are typically sent in under a minute through Osko, even between different financial institutions.*
* Some payments may be held for additional security checks. Speak to your financial institution for more information.
An easy way to send & receive money
Payments are made in your online banking, so there’s no need to sign up to anything, or download another app. You simply pay or get paid using a mobile number, email address, ABN, or Organisation Identifier that’s linked to a bank account. In some cases, some businesses or organisations may provide a unique email PayID to pay them.
Pay with more confidence
You’ll be shown the name linked to the PayID before you hit send, helping protect you from fraud, scams, or mistaken payments.
Simple to set up
A PayID can be set up in your online banking. You can also set up multiple PayIDs if you have more than one account, or move your PayID between different accounts or financial institutions.

Get started with PayID
Head to your online banking and follow the steps to register.
You can use your mobile number, email address, ABN or Organisation Identifier. Your financial institution will let you know which PayID types are available to you.
You can also have multiple PayIDs linked to different accounts, or move your PayID to another financial institution.

Using PayID
Paying friends, family and small businesses
To pay using PayID, log in to your online banking, enter the PayID, and check the PayID name shown before you hit send.
Paying businesses and organisations
You may start to see PayID being offered as a payment method by larger businesses and organisations where you’ll be given a unique email PayID to use for your payment. You pay the same way as paying to any other PayID.
Receiving money an easy way
Register your mobile number or email address as your PayID. If you’re a small business or sole trader, you can also use your ABN or Organisation Identifier. Once you’ve registered, you can start receiving money in under a minute through Osko*. Easy!
* Some payments may be held for additional security checks. Speak to your financial institution for more information.
PayID is already in your online banking
PayID is offered by over 80 financial institutions. It’s typically built into the ‘Pay Anyone’ section in your online banking.

Be scam aware
When using PayID, stop and check before you hit send.

You should also remember:
- PayID will never contact you directly. Not ever.
- Emails or text messages claiming be from PayID are a scam.
- PayID will never ask you to send money to receive money or ask you to ‘upgrade your account’.
Have you been ‘scambled’?
- Be aware of illegal online gambling scams.
- If you are being asked to transfer money via PayID on illegal gambling sites, this is a scam.
- You cannot win money from these sites, or get your money back if you have been ’scambled.
If you believe you have been scammed, please contact your financial institution.
