Interchange fees
Interchange fees are payable between the retailer (known as a self-Acquirer) or the retailers’ financial institution (known as the Acquirer) and the cardholder’s bank or financial institution (known as the Issuer).
Interchange fees:
- Create a simple regime to underpin and strengthen eftpos’ competitiveness
- Support investment in key enhancements to eftpos products
- Support initiatives designed to increase eftpos functionality, and enhance digital payments security

Interchange fees apply to ineligible Single Network Debit Card (SNDC) Card Not Present (CNP) transactions: (a) Interchange fees for Legacy 1 - Legacy 6 is equivalent to the In-Store Card interchange rate. 3. Interchange fees apply to purchase transactions where the interchange criteria is not met and is equivalent to the In-store Card > $10 interchange fees of the corresponding interchange category and card type. |
