eftpos is Australia's trusted debit card network. eftpos is supported in most debit cards in Australia wherever the eftpos logo appears (typically on the 'back of card'), enabling consumers to pay in-store, online, or on-the-go. eftpos is committed to convenient, secure, and reliable payments, and helping consumers stay on top of their money.
With eftpos, consumers can use their own money for everyday purchases, plus get real-time balances in their online banking – making it easy to stay on top of their money.
eftpos is available on most Australian debit cards and prepaid cards, and is widely accepted across Australia.
Transactions on eftpos are processed locally, ensuring transactions are secure, and consumers can benefit from eftpos’ fraud protection features. This includes PIN, online authentication and disputes and chargeback rights, so they can always shop with confidence.
Wherever the eftpos logo appears on a debit card or digital wallet, payments may be processed through eftpos. This is because merchants can now choose the card network their transactions are processed through (unless a consumer has opted otherwise), so transactions may be reflected in real-time in consumers’ online banking.
eftpos is supported in popular digital wallets, giving debit cardholders the benefit of security and convenience. Payments made using a digital wallet are tokenised which replaces real card details (like card numbers) with a digital token that can be used for transactions. This token is useless if stolen as sensitive card details are never shared.
Some digital wallets may allow consumers to choose the preferred network. If this is enabled and a consumer is with a participating bank, they can simply add their debit card to a digital wallet, and choose eftpos as the default payment method before tapping to pay.
